On June 23, 2016, Organizational Architecture and The Plexus Education Foundation co-hosted a workshop entitled The Growing Impact of LGBT Awareness in the Workplace. Led by our friend and colleague, Thomas Hawn, President of the Board of Directors at the Plexus Education Foundation, we had a lively discussion of workplace issues related to members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender [LGBT] communities, and the solid business case for diversity and inclusion in the workplace. With participants from USI Insurance, Cleveland Clinic, Medical Mutual of Ohio. Cleveland State University, Signet Jewelers. First Federal Lakewood, YWCA of Greater Cleveland, Skylight Financial and others, Thomas shared his personal and professional experiences to help employers realize the benefits of an inclusive workplace, including
  • Better ability to attract top talent in a competitive market for labor,
  • Increase productivity, higher retention, and greater employee satisfaction,
  • It’s the right thing to do…and this is meaningful to employees.
